ABOUT ME
Hey, my name is Alex. I was raised in South Yorkshire as a child where my great aunt and mother instilled within me a love of nature, the countryside and horticulture. As a teen, I was whisked away to live in Marbella ‘Spain’ with my parents, and after finishing school here I went back to study art and design in the Honeywell collage in Barnsley.
After college, I hopped back to the sunshine and worked with an artist as his apprentice painting murals and other decorative paint works along the Coast.
What Do I Do Apart From Greenthumbs Garden?
I have worked as an artist for many years, painting mural projects along the coast and commission-based artwork. For my own pleasure, I have been painting some botanical art pieces. So far I have only painted nepenthes carnivorous plants which I’m in love with, and I really hope I can get around to enjoying that passion more in the future.
That’s pretty much the ‘about’ section done…. Right, I’m off for a cuppa.
Alex
Greenthumbs Garden Starts on YouTube
In May 2016 I started Greenthumbs Garden. Or Dr. Greenthumb as the channel was called back then 😂.
The funny thing is, the reason I started the channel was to share my carnivorous plant projects I was super enthused about with the guys at Flytrap Care community website and Dr. Greenthumb happened to be my username over there.
As time went by the channel slowly developed and we moved out of our rented apartment to a rented smallholding in the countryside and suddenly I had a lot more to be able to talk about and the channel kept growing and taking its own form. Suddenly I was building a small audience and I decided to rename the channel to Greenthumbs Garden so it sounded a little more gardeny.
What’s Next for Greenthumbs Garden
Well at the time of writing this ‘21/11/20′ our community is at 6700 subscribers! Which is pretty phenomenal. The next immediate goal is to take the channel to 10K subscribers then 100K so you can certainly help out there! help me share those videos around and get it out there! If you want to know more about how you can support the channel read up here.
I’m also trying my best to bring out content on a weekly basis and at the same time juggle my work, personal life and develop this website.
